Copenhagen. Great food, great people

I really had a great time yesterday in copenhagen. I enjoyed the food at Wagamama’s by the tivoli and the nice pub La Scala that was crowded with LOTS of deafies. Met some old friends as well as got to make new friends. I really enjoyed myself. Looking forward the frontrunners party tonight! There will be about 500 deaf international people attending!

I’ll write more about the party tomorrow or when I get time to do it.

See ya folks!

I’m having this..

discussion with the aviation school in Höganäs about the possibility for me to undergo an education in aviation and receive a private pilot license. No deaf people have been allowed to do that in Sweden earlier. I talked with a very nice instructor who really wanted to do everything to help me. However, he had to ask for permission from Transportsstyrelsen, who are responsible to see if all aviation schools follow rules and it’s them who decide who can be allowed a pilot license.

I got the answer from them, “theoretically possible but practically difficult.” I understand them, but I don’t know why it would be practically difficult when I can have a sign language interpreter? According to them, it’s better if all teachers at the aviation school know sign language. It’s absurd! They don’t need to be able to sign when there are sign language interpreters.

However, I’m not giving up. I’ll prove to them it’s practically possible. I got offered to test flying with an instructor. Whether I can get a pilot license is another question. At least, as of now, the most important thing is that I am given the possibility to be a pilot for one day.
